Leeds-Chamber-President comments on NGT

Chamber responds to cancellation of NGT

Following the announcement that the proposed trolley bus will no longer be going ahead, Leeds Chamber president, Gerald Jennings responded by saying:

“It is disappointing that after a further decade in the planning Leeds continues to remain the only major UK city without any kind of mass transit system. We would urge the government to maintain its commitment to Leeds by ring fencing the promised £170 million allocated for NGT and allow the city time to review options and use this money to upgrade our tired public transport infrastructure.”

“The private sector working through the Chamber is determined to push for much needed investment and will work with the City Council to achieve the best outcome for Leeds.”
