The Technology Group’s fundraising efforts for local charity Leeds Mencap are gaining pace, as Jonathan and David Marsden, two of the Technology Group Directors, are calling on other local businesses to the Leeds, Kirkstall road based company, to pledge donations in support of their 100km trek across the Sahara Desert taking place in March in aid of the charity.
The Technology Group have already donated telephony solutions and internet for the next three years to the charities new centre in East Leeds. Giving the charity £50,000 in equipment, phone lines, internet and support. Leeds Mencap, the chosen charity whose new purpose-built centre will provide facilities for children and adults with disabilities, community nurseries and other community activities, has been tirelessly seeking the funding it needs to make the new centre a success and they are now trying to secure the remaining £250,000 of their original £2.6M target.
Commenting on the latest fundraising activity the 100km Sahara Desert Trek, Jonathan Marsden Sales Director, The Technology Group said, “We are thrilled with the support we have seen from our clients, friends and business partners, there is still a long way to go to reaching our target of £10,000 but we have seen a very positive response so far and I’d like to thank all that have donated in support of such a great cause. If you would like to donate to our campaign for Leeds Mencap, track our progress during the trek or learn more about our business sponsors and how you can become one visit www.ttgsahara.co.uk ”
The Technology Group’s trip has been entirely self-funded by the pair so that any donations go straight to the charity. So far the business community has responded positively taking places from bronze through to principle sponsors helping The Technology Group to secure nearly £5,000 bringing their total sponsorship for the trek to nearly 50% raised with just over a week to go!
Sarah Hooker, Head of Fundraising @ Leeds Mencap said: “We are completely indebted to The Technology Group who have already supported us with £50,000 worth of equipment and resource for the new centre. We’re delighted that David and Jonathan are continuing to support Leeds Mencap through this fantastic challenge and would urge all local businesses to help them and in turn us on our final phase of our building campaign. The new centre will be hugely beneficial for the local area and we hope you can get behind it.”
Jonathan and David are currently training for the Trek using the glorious landscapes of Yorkshire such as the three peaks for practice.
