Leeds Chamber’s biggest event of the year has raised over £2,000 in support of The Leeds Fund, which distributes grants to community groups and charities that can reach parts of the community that other sectors just can’t, tackling really difficult issues and acting as catalyst for positive change.
Managed by local charity, Leeds Community Foundation (LCF), The Leeds Fund has raised and distributed over £550,000 to 54 separate projects over the last seven months. However, the need continues to grow as our city expands; with the Foundation often receiving 6-7 times as many applications as they can currently afford to fund.
Gerald Jennings, President of Leeds Chamber, selected LCF as the Leeds Chamber’s charity partner and they having been supporting the Foundation for the past two years.
The Annual Dinner held at the Royal Armouries brought together Chamber members from across the region, who kindly gave donations to support the work of The Leeds Fund.
Speaking about the event, Gerald Jennings said: “We are proud to support The Leeds Fund and I’m delighted that many of our members have also aligned themselves with this great initiative, together with the Fund’s Patron Gabby Logan and many of the city’s figurehead names and brands such as John Lewis Leeds and Asda Foundation. Leeds Chamber is proud to support The Leeds Fund and believe that it is important to give back to communities where you live and work. We would like to thank all of our members for their generous donations which have enabled us to raise more money for the Fund”
Sally-Anne Greenfield, Chief Executive of LCF, said: “We were delighted when Leeds Chamber selected LCF as their charity partner. We have been members of Leeds Chamber for ten years and value the important role they play in supporting the local business sector. The Leeds Fund provides a vehicle for individuals and businesses to give back to their city – generating investment to help community projects across Leeds provide vital services to local people. We are extremely grateful for the Chambers continued support to ensure we can help more projects across the city year after year.”
The Leeds Fund was launched in June 2016 and is here to stay. The Fund collects donations and distributes grants throughout the year. Donations can be made online or by cheque. To find out more and donate, please visit: www.theleedsfund.org.uk
